ISLAMABAD: National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has forecast heavy rainfalls in the  most parts of the country including Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit and Kashmir from Aug 26 to 28 and issued alter for departments concerned.

It predicted that Sindh is likely to receive heavy rains, fearing urban flooding in big cities of the province.

It may rain cats and dogs in Sindh divisions including Karachi, Hyderabad, Larkana, Sukkur, Nawabshah, Sanghar, Ghotki and Khairpur in next 72 hours, causing flooding in these divisions, the NDMA said.

It advised the authorities concerned to adopt preventive measures to tackle any expected emergency situation in urban areas and also appealed the people to take precautionary steps to avoid any flood situation,

The NDMA predicted rains in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore and Sahiwal divisions in Punjab along with Attock, Murree, Guliyat, Chakwal, Talagang, Jhelum, Bahawalnagar, Bahawalpur, Rahimyar Khan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Leh, Muzaffargarh; Clouds will rain in Faisalabad, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Chiniot, Multan, Khanewal, Lodhran, Khanpur, Sargodha, Mianwali, Khushab and Bhakkar.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, heavy rain is likely in Mardan, Swabi, Hangu, Kirk, Kohat, Orakzai, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Dera Ismail Khan, Tank, Kurram, Waziristan areas including Malakand, Hazara and Peshawar divisions. Heavy rains can cause landslides in mountainous areas and flooding in low-lying areas.
