PTI files request to hold rally in Rawalpindi on September 28
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) submitted an application to the Rawalpindi authorities, requesting permission to organize a rally on September 28.
PTI has formally informed the deputy commissioner’s office that it plans to hold the public gathering at either Liaquat Bagh or Bhatta Chowk.
This move follows an announcement by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, who, after the party’s Lahore power show on September 21, stated that the former ruling party would hold public gatherings in Mianwali and Rawalpindi.
For months, PTI has faced challenges in securing permissions for public rallies, with authorities citing security and other concerns. However, the party recently succeeded in staging events in Islamabad and Lahore under strict regulations.
The Lahore rally ended abruptly when police seized control of the stage, cutting off the microphone and lights after the event exceeded the 6pm deadline outlined in the no-objection certificate (NOC) issued by city officials.
