Khanewal: In a shocking incident, a woman from Basti Molvi Hayat in Khanewal has alleged that her husband, under the influence of drugs and gambling addiction, wagered and lost their two young children in a bet.
According to the distressed mother, her husband Akhtar Hussain lost their 5-year-old son Faizan and 3-year-old Abdul Rehman in a gambling game. She claimed that unknown individuals later arrived at their home to take the children, and upon resistance, left after issuing threats to return.
The woman added that when her father came to intervene, Akhtar violently assaulted both her and her father before forcibly taking the children and throwing her out of the house.
The mother further claimed that when she called her father for help, Akhtar assaulted both her and her father, then forcibly took the children and threw her out of the house. She has now directly appealed to Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and IG Punjab for the recovery of her young sons.
The woman’s family has also accused the police of inaction, alleging that the investigating officer demanded Rs30, 000 to proceed with their application.
“I beg the authorities to help me find my innocent children,” the tearful mother pleaded. “My husband’s addiction has ruined our lives, and now my children are gone.”
This deeply disturbing case highlights serious concerns regarding child protection and the alleged lack of immediate response from law enforcement, prompting an urgent call for intervention from higher authorities.
