Death toll
JAKARTA: The death toll from the collapse of a boarding Islamic school building in Indonesia last week has risen to 54, authorities confirmed.
The tragic incident occurred in Sidoarjo city on the island of Java, where a rescue operation launched immediately after the collapse is now about 90 percent complete.
According to foreign media reports, 54 bodies have so far been recovered from the debris, while search and rescue teams continue efforts to locate 13 people still believed to be trapped under the rubble.
According to the report, the administration used the latest equipment to help find people under the rubble, but no signs of survival of the strangers under the rubble.
It may be recalled that a few days ago, an Islamic school building in Java, Indonesia, was collapsed in which more than 50 people, including dozens of children, were buried under debris.
