Iran’s Supreme leader Khamenei rejects Trump’s offer for nuclear talks
TEHRAN: Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has firmly rejected former U.S. President Donald Trump’s offer to restart nuclear talks, calling his claims about destroying Iran’s nuclear program “a fantasy.”
According to Iranian media, Khamenei’s remarks came after five indirect rounds of talks between Tehran and Washington, which ended in June following the 12-day Israel-Iran conflict.
Responding to Trump’s recent statements, Khamenei said, “The American president says he destroyed Iran’s nuclear industry — very well, keep dreaming!”
He strongly criticized Trump and dismissed his offer for renewed negotiations, saying that any agreement made under pressure or coercion is not a deal but an act of bullying.
Trump had earlier claimed that if Washington reached a peace deal with Tehran, it would be a major achievement following the Israel-Hamas ceasefire. However, Khamenei’s sharp response made it clear that Iran has no intention of resuming nuclear talks under U.S. pressure.
By rejecting Trump’s proposal, the Supreme Leader sent a strong message to Washington, emphasizing Iran’s independence in making its strategic decisions.
