KARACHI: The law enforcement agencies (LEAs) in Karachi have arrested a highly wanted terrorist associated with Fitna-ul-Khawarij from the Shershah area, recovering weapons and ammunition from his possession.

According to details, the Rangers and the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) conducted a joint operation in Shershah based on secret intelligence and apprehended the suspect, Muhammad Noor alias Khum.

A Rangers spokesperson stated that during interrogation, the suspect confessed to involvement in target killings, extortion, bomb blasts, and kidnappings for ransom. Weapons and ammunition were also seized from him.

The spokesperson added that the suspect joined terrorist Qayyum Mehsud’s group in 2010 and later became part of Abid Machar’s target-killing team in 2012.

Several of the suspect’s associates were either killed or arrested during Karachi operations by the Rangers and police.

To evade arrest during the 2015 Karachi operation, the suspect reportedly remained in hiding in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The spokesperson noted that multiple cases are registered against him at Manghopir and Khawaja Ajmeer Nagri police stations, while further investigations are ongoing.
