The Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC) spokesperson has reported yet another major power breakdown at the Dhabeji Pumping Station caused by K-Electric. The outage occurred in the station’s second phase at 6:35 am today.
According to the spokesperson, the breakdown was reported at 6:35 AM today, after which two pumps in the second phase of the station shut down. Due to the power outage, Line No. 5 has been affected, and Karachi may face a shortage of nearly 100 million gallons of water.
Meanwhile, on the instructions of KWSC CEO Ahmed Ali Siddiqui, emergency repair work on the affected line has begun. Technical teams are utilizing all available resources to restore water supply from the damaged line.
According to the spokesperson, the repair work is expected to be completed by Monday, after which the entire Dhabeji system will return to normal operations.
It is worth noting that similar disruptions occurred earlier on November 5, 11, and 13, when cable faults in the Fourth Phase, Second Phase, and K-III Pump House caused prolonged power outages, leading to severe water supply shortages across Karachi.
