KARACHI: The gold prices across the country witnessed a sharp rise on Wednesday, with the per-tola rate surging by Rs7,900, according to the All Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Association.

Following the increase, the price of 24-karat gold has climbed to Rs431,562 per tola, marking one of the significant jumps in recent weeks. Similarly, the price of 10 grams of gold rose by Rs6,773, reaching Rs369,994.

In the international market, gold also recorded a substantial rise, gaining $79 to reach $4,092 per ounce, reflecting global economic uncertainties and increased investor interest in precious metals.

Jewellers say the surge in domestic prices is directly linked to the global upward trend, coupled with currency fluctuations.

They added that buying activity in the local market has slowed due to the soaring rates, as consumers wait for price stability.
