Smog crisis deepens in Punjab with Lahore at top

LAHORE: Air pollution continues to pose serious health risks in multiple cities across Punjab, with Lahore once again topping the list earlier today at 444 particulate matter (PM), according to provincial authorities.

Data from the Punjab Environment Department’s website showed Faisalabad at 344 PM and Gujranwala at 315 PM a short while ago.

Meanwhile, global environmental monitoring platforms reported 220 PM in Lahore, while pollution levels in Gujranwala reached 495 PM and Faisalabad recorded 435 PM, placing both cities in the “hazardous” category.

On the other hand, According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), Karachi will continue to experience chilly nights and mornings, while daytime weather will remain warm and dry over the coming days.

Today’s minimum temperature was recorded at 17.5°C, while the maximum is likely to reach around 30°C.

The humidity level in the air was recorded at 31 percent. Winds are blowing from the north-eastern direction at a speed of 18 km/h.

The sky will remain clear throughout the day. The PMD has confirmed that there is no chance of rainfall in the city for at least the next week.
