The platform has launched digital gift cards, allowing users to send shopping credits to friends and family, giving access to millions of products with just a few taps.

This move is a strategic step for TikTok Shop, aimed at cementing its place in the e-commerce arena alongside heavyweights like Amazon and eBay, while also supporting its ongoing expansion into luxury retail.

Shoppers can personalize gift cards with amounts ranging from $10 to $500, choosing from animated designs tailored for birthdays, weddings, thank-yous, and other special moments.

Delivered via email, the cards require recipients to have a TikTok account to redeem, instantly adding the funds to their TikTok Balance. Users can respond with a thank-you message or even send a gift card in return, adding an interactive layer to digital gifting. But TikTok isn’t stopping there.

By early 2026, the platform plans to let users attach video messages to gift cards and experience an interactive unboxing that captures recipients’ real-time reactions, bringing a sense of joy and surprise to virtual gifting.

This launch comes on the heels of a massive milestone for TikTok Shop, which reported over $500 million in U.S. sales during the Black Friday and Cyber Monday period, underlining the platform’s growing influence in the online shopping world.

Yet, behind this commercial triumph lies uncertainty. The potential sale of TikTok’s U.S. operations to an American investor group remains unresolved.

Should the deal not materialize, TikTok could face a ban in the United States, with the divestiture deadline extended to January 23, 2026, leaving the platform’s American future hanging in the balance.
