Karachi: MQM-Pakistan leader and Federal Health Minister Mustafa Kamal has publicly accused MQM founder Altaf Hussain of ordering the murder of senior party leader Dr. Imran Farooq in London on September 16, 2010.

Speaking at a press conference in Karachi alongside party officials, Kamal alleged that the killing was a “birthday gift” from an allegedly intoxicated Altaf Hussain to himself, claiming the MQM founder personally gave the order.

Kamal condemned Hussain’s handling of the aftermath, stating that he orchestrated a public spectacle over Dr. Farooq’s funeral and his wife’s passing, collecting millions in donations globally under false pretenses.

“Even without permission, Altaf Hussain had photographs taken at the mosque during the funeral,” Kamal added, criticizing his theatrical and manipulative behavior.

The minister further accused Hussain of long-term collaboration with India’s RAW agency, receiving funds for over 25 years, and betraying the Muhajir community.

Mustafa Kamal described Hussain as a destructive figure who had set back the city and its people by decades, undermining education, governance, and community welfare.

Mustafa Kamal urged Dr. Farooq’s children to pursue justice in the UK, emphasizing that silence should never be mistaken for weakness. “I am personally ready to provide evidence and support to ensure the killers are brought to justice,” he said, while demanding that Hussain appear before the British courts.

Dr. Imran Farooq’s murder case had previously been prosecuted in the UK, culminating in 2015 when the Anti-Terrorism Court sentenced Khalid Shamim, Mohsin Ali, and Muazzam Ali to life imprisonment along with fines of PKR 1 million each.

Mustafa Kamal reaffirmed his commitment to uncovering the truth and ensuring accountability, stating that MQM-Pakistan will continue to fight for justice for its slain leader.
