In a tragic series of incidents in West Point, Mississippi, six people were killed in shootings at three separate public locations, authorities confirmed, and police say a suspect has been taken into custody.
According to local officials, Clay County Sheriff Eddie Scott informed the public via social media that all three shootings were carried out by a single individual. The names of the victims will be released once family members are notified.
In a Facebook post, Sheriff Scott stated that the suspect no longer poses a threat to the community, and law enforcement is continuing its investigation. Details regarding the motive or any connection between the shooter and the victims have not yet been established.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office said additional information would be provided soon, with a news conference scheduled for the morning to share further updates.
