The Sonic cinematic universe is expanding once again and this time, a major Hollywood voice is stepping into one of the franchise’s most beloved roles.

Paramount Pictures has confirmed that Kristen Bell will voice Amy Rose in the forthcoming Sonic the Hedgehog 4, marking a significant addition to the live-action and CGI hybrid series.

Amy Rose, the pink, hammer-wielding heroine known for her steadfast affection for Sonic, was teased in the mid-credits sequence of Sonic the Hedgehog 3, where audiences were also offered a glimpse of Metal Sonic.

While the metallic antagonist is widely expected to feature in the next instalment, the studio has yet to confirm who will provide the character’s voice.

Bell brings considerable pedigree in voice performance. She is internationally recognised for voicing Anna in Disney’s Frozen franchise and has contributed to multiple animated projects.

Her broader career includes narrating Gossip Girl and starring in Veronica Mars. She currently appears in Netflix’s Nobody Wants This.

Plot details for the fourth instalment remain tightly under wraps. However, the franchise has previously featured Idris Elba as Knuckles, Colleen O’Shaughnessey as Tails and Keanu Reeves as Shadow. Jim Carrey has portrayed the eccentric Dr Robotnik, while James Marsden and Tika Sumpter have appeared as Sonic’s adoptive parental figures.

Jeff Fowler, who directed the previous three films, is set to return to helm the project. Having surpassed $1 billion at the global box office, the Sonic franchise continues to demonstrate formidable commercial momentum.

Sonic the Hedgehog 4 is scheduled for theatrical release on 19 March 2027, with anticipation already building following this high-profile casting announcement.
