Karachi experienced widespread on the first day of Eid-ul-Fitr, as intermittent showers accompanied by thunder and lightning swept across the city, affecting celebrations and daily routines.
According to reports, areas including Malir, Shah Faisal Colony, Saddar, and II Chundrigar Road received light to heavy rainfall at different intervals. In Federal B Area, strong winds along with heavy showers added to the intensity of the weather, while neighborhoods such as Gulshan-e-Iqbal and Gulistan-e-Johar remained under dense cloud cover with periodic rain.
The sudden downpour led to disruptions in Eid prayers in several localities, as worshippers struggled to gather in open spaces amid wet conditions.
Low-lying areas, particularly in Saddar and adjoining neighborhoods, reported water accumulation, creating traffic hurdles and inconvenience for residents.
Power outages were also observed in parts of Defence View shortly after the rain began, further dampening the festive mood.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast that the wet spell will persist intermittently through the night, driven by a westerly weather system influencing much of the country.
The department noted that temperatures are expected to remain relatively moderate, with a maximum of around 31°C.
Authorities have advised citizens to remain cautious, particularly in areas prone to urban flooding, while commuters are urged to plan travel accordingly.
Cloudy skies are expected to continue into the second and third days of Eid, with chances of further light showers in parts of the city.

The highest rainfall early in the morning was recorded at Jinnah Terminal with 13.2 mm.
Gulshan-e-Hadeed received 11.4 mm, Mauripur 11 mm, Old Airport 10.8 mm, and Nazimabad recorded 9.7 mm of rainfall.
Shahrah-e-Faisal recorded 8 mm, Korangi 4 mm, and Surjani Town received 2.6 mm of rainfall.
