In the fourth day match of the 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League, Quetta Gladiators showed an impressive performance and defeated Hyderabad Kingsmen by 40 runs to register their first win in the tournament.
The match was played in Lahore where Quetta captain Saud Shakeel won the toss and decided to bat first. However, the start was not good for the team as the captain himself was dismissed early after scoring just 4 runs. Soon after, Rilee Rossouw was also out without scoring any runs.
After the early setbacks, Shamyl Hussain and Hasan Nawaz handled the pressure well and built an important partnership for the third wicket. Shamyl Hussain scored his second half-century of the tournament and made 54 runs, while Hasan Nawaz also played a brilliant innings of 53 runs which helped the team reach a strong total.
Quetta Gladiators scored 174 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in their 20 overs. In reply, Hyderabad Kingsmen struggled while chasing the target and could only score 134 runs for 8 wickets.
For Hyderabad, Irfan Khan scored 33 runs and Hassan Khan made 31, but they failed to take their team to victory. Quetta’s bowling was also outstanding as Abrar Ahmed took 3 wickets and Ahmed Daniyal picked up 2 wickets, playing an important role in the win.
Both teams were playing their second match of the tournament. In the first round, Quetta had lost to Karachi Kings while Hyderabad had been defeated by Lahore Qalandars, but this time Quetta Gladiators made a strong comeback and secured a convincing win.
