Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige confirmed that the Marvel Cinematic Universe has plans to bring “Miles Morales” into live action, though the character won’t appear until after Sony’s animated Spider Verse trilogy wraps up.
Miles Morales first appeared on the big screen in 2018’s “Spider Man: Into the Spider Verse” and returned in 2023’s “Spider Man: Across the Spider Verse,” with Shameik Moore voicing the character in both films. Moore reprises the role once more in “Beyond the Spider Verse,” which follows Miles as he becomes stranded in an alternate universe while trying to save his family.
Fans have speculated about Miles’ live action future since “Spider Man: No Way Home,” which saw Tom Holland’s Peter Parker cross paths with earlier film versions of the character played by Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire.
In that film, Jamie Foxx Electro suggested there was likely a Black Spider Man somewhere in the multiverse, a line Feige said resonated strongly with audiences and may have served as an early tease of what’s to come.
Feige also revealed that planning for future Spider Man stories is already taking shape, with producer Amy Pascal deep into early discussions about the direction of upcoming films.
In the meantime, Holland’s Peter Parker returns for his fourth solo film, “Spider Man: Brand New Day,” which hits theaters July 30. With both the animated and live action sides of the Spider Man franchise continuing to expand, Feige’s comments suggest Marvel and Sony are laying the groundwork for Miles Morales to eventually cross over into live action once the current animated storyline reaches its conclusion.
