UAE residents planning their vacations for 2027 can look forward to several public holidays marking religious and national occasions. Some of these holidays could also create long weekends.
While some public holidays have fixed dates, Islamic holidays are based on the Hijri calendar and depend on the official sighting of the crescent moon. Hijri months can last 29 or 30 days, and crescent-sighting committees meet on the 29th day to determine when the new month will begin.
This process is particularly important for holidays such as Eid ul-Fitr and Eid ul-Adha.
