Heavy rain hits different parts of Karachi once again with strong gust of winds and thunderstorms.

According to details, heavy rain reported in different areas of Karachi including North Karachi, Malir, 4K Chorangi, Baba morh, Nazimabad, Gulshan Iqbal, Sadar, Orangi, Surjani Town, Liaquatabad. Citizens said goodbye to the sunshine for some time and started enjoying the rain.

Due to heavy rain around 150 feeders of the K-Electric tripped.

The affected areas included Azizabad, Nagan chorangi, New Karachi, Federal B Area, Nazimabad and Orangi Town.

According to the Meteorological Department, Karachi likely to receive rainfall till Monday.

The city recorded 27 degrees Celsius temperature in the morning while humidity in the city was 83 percent.

Yesterday Pakistan Meteorological Department had forecast heavy rainfall with thunderstorm in Karachi.

PMD stated that more monsoon currents from the Bay of Bengal are likely to penetrate in northeastern and south eastern parts of the country and likely to strengthen from Thursday.

A westerly wave is also expected to enter upper parts of the country from Friday, it said. Under the influence of this weather system, heavy rainfall is expected in various cities including Karachi.

Heavy falls may also generate urban flooding in districts of Hyderabad, Thatta, Badin and Karachi on Saturday and Sunday.

Rain-thundershowers at scattered places in districts of lower Sindh including Mirpurkhas, Umarkot, Sanghar, Hyderabad, Shaheed Benazirabad, Badin, Thatta, Dadu, and Karachi.

Earlier, PMD Director Sardar Sarfaraz had rubbished rumors circulating on social media which suggested temperatures in Karachi would soar above the 50°C mark in the coming days.

He also explained that a tropical depression in the Arabian Sea region had transformed into a storm.
