Following their defeat in the World Test Championship final India’s emphasis has shifted to the next England series. With skipper Virat Kohli expressing his displeasure with the series’ tactics.
India entered the World Test Championship final without having played a single first-class match. And they will face a similar challenge when they face England in a five-match Test series in August.
India’s Test side will only need to play intra-squad warm-up games in training for the major series. As they will have a three-week break before returning to the bio-bubble for the England series. Virat Kohli was questioned about the absence of first-class matches in the build-up to the tournament. In addition to that, his post-WTC final news conference, and he expressed his displeasure with the situation.
“Well, that isn’t up to us,” Kohli explained. “Undoubtedly, we wanted first-class games, which I consider we did not receive. I’m not sure what the causes are for that.”
