SEOUL: Twelve more US soldiers and eight relevant civilians in South Korea tested positive for the Covid-19, the US Forces Korea (USFK) said Thursday.

The USFK said in a statement that 20 USFK-affiliated individuals were confirmed with the Covid-19 after arriving in South Korea between July 18 and August 2.

One service member arrived at Osan Air Base on a US government-chartered flight from the United States on July 20.

Eleven service members, four civilians, three family members and one retiree arrived on international commercial flights at Incheon International Airport on July 18, 19, 23-29, August 1 and 2.

The confirmed patients have been transferred to designated isolation facilities at the US army bases here.

The total number of infections among the USFK-affiliated personnel rose to 1,159, according to Yonhap news agency.

In the latest tally, South Korea reported 1,776 more cases of Covid-19 for the past 24 hours, lifting the total number of infections to 205,702. The daily caseload hovered above 1,000 for 30 straight days.–Xinhua
