When a British guy came home after taking out the garbage, he discovered an unexpected visitor, a chameleon.

Last week, the man was taking out the trash at his home in the Fulwood area of Preston, England, when he noticed the unusual creature perched on his door, according to the RSPCA.

According to the RSPCA, the man had no idea what kind of lizard it was, but he didn’t think it was a native species, so he trapped it in a box and took it to his mother’s house nearby.

The species was identified by the man’s brother as a chameleon, a reptile found in warm settings such as deserts and woodlands. The family contacted the RSPCA, which sent animal rescue officer David Hatton to the scene.

According to Hatton, “It certainly isn’t something you expect to see when you are about to open your door — but the man did exactly the right thing in calling us as this beautifully colored reptile would not have survived without warmth.”

He added, “The chameleon is now safe in the care of a specialist reptile keeper.”

The chameleon is accepted to be a get away from pet, however, the RSPCA said no proprietor has approached to guarantee the reptile.
