In the latest devastating photograph to emerge from the war, a Ukrainian woman has inscribed her two-year-old daughter’s contact information on her back in case her family is killed by Russian forces.
Sasha Makoviy posted a photo of her daughter Vira, who had her birthday and phone digits written in ink on her body.
‘I signed Vira in case something happened to us, and someone would pick her up as a survivor,’ she stated on Instagram.
The mother revealed that she composed the note on the first day of the conflict while hearing bombs all around her.
She stated that the family has finally reached sanctuary, but she want to demonstrate the atrocities of the conflict as Putin’s soldiers continue to attack people and children.
‘In the photo is Vira’s back on the first day of the conflict,’ Sasha posted on Instagram. My hands were shaking when I signed it. But why should I tell you?
‘You’ve already experienced waking up to the thunderous and tremendous noises of explosions that can be heard for tens of kilometres. Like you, I was trembling for the first several hours.
‘Then an even weirder notion crossed my mind: ‘Why didn’t I tattoo this information on her?’
Sasha also posted a photo of a hand-written contact card in Vira’s jacket, which had her name, the names of her parents, and their phone numbers in case they ever separated.
Others recounted similar experiences, with one adding, ‘On the first day of the war, I did the same for my three-year-old kid.’
‘And, even though we are now in England with him, the paper is always with him.’
Others claimed they sewed contact information into their children’s outfits and prepared emergency wristbands for them.
