Portugal forward Cristiano Ronaldo missed the Manchester United’s clash with Liverpool in the Premier League on Tuesday after the death of one of his twin sons.
Ronaldo and his partner Georgina Rodriguez announced on Monday that one of the two babies had passed away.
“Family is more important than everything and Ronaldo is supporting his loved ones at this immensely difficult time,” United had said in a statement on the club website ahead of the match against Liverpool.
“As such, we can confirm that he will not feature in the match against Liverpool at Anfield on Tuesday evening and we underline the family’s request for privacy.”
United are three points ahead of the fourth-place Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League points table.
