
China has ordered the returnees to face a 14-day quarantine period.
State media report that residents were asked to “self-quarantine or go to designated venues to quarantine” after they return to China from other places or holidays.
The step was taken after the first case of coronavirus was reported in Africa by Egypt.
More than 1,500 people have lost their lives due to coronavirus. China’s health commission reported 145 new deaths.
2,641 new cases were confirmed in Wuhan, the number of cases reached 66, 492.
Also, there are 500 cases in 24 countries outside of China.
Beijing’s virus prevention working group issued a notice on Friday as returnees coming from the Lunar New Year holidays in other areas of China. Authorities had extended the holiday to help contain the eruption.
A World Health Organisation (WHO)-led mission to China will investigate the outbreak this weekend.
The mission will also work on health works.
Dr. Mike Ryan, executive director of WHO health emergency programme, informed, “Particular attention will be paid to understanding the transmission of the virus, the severity of disease and the impact of ongoing response measures,”
Chinese officials reported that six health workers have died, 1,102 medical workers have been infected in Wuhan and 400 in Hubei province.
Mr. Zeng said, “The duties of medical workers at the front are indeed extremely heavy; their working and resting circumstances are limited, the psychological pressures are great, and the risk of infection is high,”
