Crawley manager John Yems faces allegations of racism

Yems is also accused of abusing his own players by calling them racist terms like “suicide bomber,” “terrorist,” and “Zulu Warrior.”

TWO-LEAGUE The Football Association (FA) is investigating Crawley Town after allegations that manager John Yems ran a segregated training ground, with black players using a separate changing room.

Yems is accused of calling his own players racist names such as “suicide bomber,” “terrorist,” and “Zulu Warrior.” Following complaints from some of the club’s players, the Professional Footballers’ Association is conducting its own investigation.

Following “serious and credible accusations,” Yems, 62, was banned indefinitely last month. “Let us be clear: Crawley Town Football Club stands behind our players, employees, and supporters, and we will never allow racism or discrimination of any type,” the club said at the time.

According to Sky Sports News, an FA representative said:

“We are aware of allegations made against Crawley Town Manager John Yems. We are treating the allegations extremely seriously and are currently conducting an investigation into them. We cannot comment further until that has concluded.”

The charges have been rejected by Yems.
