According to reports, Johnny Depp will testify again in a defamation case
Johnny Depp, the Hollywood star, is expected to testify again in her ex-wife Amber Heard’s defamation case.
The Pirates of the Caribbean star has already testified in the actress’s prosecution. The court is reportedly on recess in the middle of Amber’s testimony as part of the defence case.
According to Law & Crime, Depp will be called back in connection with Heard’s case. Whitney Henriquez, Heard’s sister, and actress Ellen Barkin will also testify.
He sued Heard for alleged defamation in connection with an op-ed she wrote for The Washington Post in 2018. In the piece, she does not mention him by name, but describes herself as “a public figure representing domestic abuse.” The actor is suing for $50 million in damages.
Meanwhile, Heard has filed a counter-suit against Depp, accusing him of orchestrating a “smear campaign” against her and describing his own suit as a continuation of “abuse and harassment.” She has requested $100 million in damages and immunity from his claims.
Johnny Depp and Amber Heard have both given conflicting accounts of their turbulent relationship. The trial is set to resume on May 16 at the Fairfax County Courthouse in Virginia.
