Before Game 1 of the 2022 Stanley Cup Final, NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman made a few important announcements.

Before the Cup Final began in Denver on Wednesday, Bettman conducted a press conference in which he gave fans plenty of reasons to be enthusiastic about next season.

To begin with, the 2022-2023 season will start on October 11th. Since the 2018-2019 season, the following season is slated to be the first to follow a regular schedule.

As a hockey lover, this is reason enough to be excited.

For the 2022-2023 season, NHL to resume regular schedule

Bettman and the NHL have previously announced a few more important dates, but it’s worth repeating them:

Boston Bruins vs. Pittsburgh Penguins in the Winter Classic on January 2nd (Fenway Park in Boston)

All-Star Weekend is February 3-4. (FLA Live Arena in Sunrise)

The Carolina Hurricanes take on the Washington Capitals in the Stadium Series on February 18. (Carter-Finely Stadium in Raleigh)

The NHL Awards will be held on June 21 in Tampa, and the NHL Draft will be held on July 7-8 in Montreal, for fans who want to look ahead but don’t want to wait until October.

It will be the first time since 2019 that any event will be held in person.

Bettman also delivered some positive news when he stated that the league had achieved a new revenue record. This season, the commissioner anticipates revenue to exceed $5.2 billion.

To put that figure in context, the last regular NHL season (2018-2019) brought in $4.6 billion. As a result, the salary cap is expected to increase next season.

Even though the Stanley Cup Final has only just began, it’s never too early to start anticipating the future season.
