SL vs PAK: Pakistan to tour Sri Lanka for two Tests in July

• Pakistan and Sri Lanka will play two Tests in July.
• ODI series was canceled at the request of SLC.
• Sri Lanka is currently hosting Australia for a five-match ODI series.

Pakistan national squad is likely to begin its training in Rawalpindi ahead of their tour to Sri Lanka, where they will play a two-match Test series against the hosts.

The national squad will gather on June 25 and will begin its training the next day.

The squad for the Test series against Sri Lanka will be announced next week.

Earlier this year, The Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) requested the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to cancel the three-match ODI series due to Lanka Premier League (LPL).

The SLC decided to stage the LPL a week early to tackle the fiscal deficit the country was facing.

“Sri Lankan board wants to start their league a week ago to reduce the fiscal deficit, so they asked us to remove the ODI series, which was accepted,” PCB Director Media Sami-ul-Hasan Burney said.

Since the ODI series was not a part of the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifiers, there was no objection.

“Since the ODIs were not part of the World Cup Super League, we did not object. The final schedule of the series is still being discussed and will be released soon,” he added.

The series will likely be played in July, however, the exact schedule is not revealed yet.

Sri Lanka is currently hosting Australia for a five-match ODI series. The Kangaroos have won the T20 international series 2-1.
