KARACHI: The Sindh Health Department has issued a notification for exhumation of televangelist Aamir Liaquat on Thursday, June 23 – the famous host died on June 9 and was buried at the shrine of Hazrat Abdullah Shah Ghazi the next day.

The development came after a court ordered the autopsy of Liaquat while hearing a petition requesting the exhumation of the famous host as he died a mysterious death at his residence.

The petition maintained that the autopsy was mandatory to ascertain the cause of Aamir’s death. Earlier, the heirs of the deceased requested a judicial magistrate not to allow postmortem of the body and the televangelist was buried after medical examination by a police surgeon.

The Sindh Health Department has formed a six-member medical board headed by Dy Summaiya Syed for the exhumation.

Earlier, A Judicial Magistrate East heard the petition for the postmortem of the televangelist Aamir Liaquat Hussain and ordered the autopsy of the deceased.

The public prosecutor Sajjad Ali Dashti said that the heirs were not willing to the autopsy claiming that it would hurt their father’s soul.

It was also presented before the court that the family has no suspicions about the cause of the death however, the police surgeon opined that the cause of the death of Aamir Liaquat was not ascertained as “no internal examination” of the body was conducted.

Notably, the media person died at his residence at Khudadad Colony on June 9 but no cause of the death was revealed.
