iPhone 14: Apple will receive 80 million OLED displays from Samsung

According to rumours in Korea, Samsung is prepared to provide Apple with about 80 million OLED panels for its upcoming iPhone 14 series.
It’s a little more convoluted than that sounds because Samsung Display is in charge rather than Samsung’s own smartphone division.

Samsung has routinely provided components for iPhones over the years, so this arrangement is also not new, although it could be a result of a supplier shake-up.

According to reports, Apple is debating whether to quit utilising BOE as a supplier, in which case Samsung’s share of the iPhone supply chain may increase even further.

This probably won’t have a significant impact on those of us who expect to purchase an iPhone 14 but it is an interesting business change.

You can definitely anticipate another excellent screen from the iPhone 14 series when it launches, with deep blacks and pure colours, as Samsung’s OLED screens are also some of the best in the industry.

It may be a great year to buy a new iPhone because the high refresh-rate ProMotion system may be extended to the basic iPhone 14 and 14 Max in addition to the Pro models.
