Ezra Miller is not-guilty
Hollywood actor Ezra Miller, who will play The Flash in DC, entered a not-guilty plea to burglary charges in Vermont, where he could have received up to 26 years in jail if proven guilty.
Miller is accused of burglarizing an occupied home and petty larceny, according to Variety. The actor virtually appeared beside their attorney in Bennington Superior Court.
Miller is accused of breaking into a house in Stamford, Vermont. After conducting an investigation, Vermont State Police found that multiple alcohol bottles had been taken without the owners’ knowledge.
Police accused Miller of criminal burglary after gathering statements and analyzing security footage. According to the petit larceny accusation, the total value of the stolen goods was less than USD 900, according to Variety.
The maximum sentence for the felony burglary offense is 25 years in jail and a fine of USD $1,000. The maximum sentence for the larceny offense is one year in prison and a fine of USD $1,000. Miller also consented to refrain from communicating with the homeowner or visiting the house again.
Miller’s lawyer Lisa B. Shelkrot reportedly stated to Variety that Ezra Miller “pled not guilty this morning in Vermont Superior Court to one count of burglary and one count of petit larceny and accepted the court-imposed terms of not contacting or entering the home of the inhabitants.”
Ezra would like to express his gratitude for all the love and support they have gotten from their family and friends, who are still an important part of their ongoing mental health, she continued.
Just a few of the scandals and legal issues Miller has been dealing with lately include the Vermont allegations.
The troubled actor was detained in Hawaii on two different occasions: first in March for disorderly behavior and harassment during an incident at a karaoke club and once more in April for an alleged assault in which Miller is believed to have struck a woman on the head at a private property.
In addition, The Hollywood Reporter said that the parents of an 18-year-old filed an order of protection against Miller, stating that the actor groomed their child from the age of 12, despite the fact that the teenager has disputed this. Miller apologized for their previous actions in August and started receiving mental health treatment.
