- Vogue has no intention of working with rapper Kanye West in future.
- He has a long and strong friendship with Anna Wintour.
- He was first invited to her annual Met Gala in 2009.
After anti-Semitic outbursts from Kanye West and support for the White Lives Matter movement, a Vogue representative exclusively revealed that neither the magazine nor its editor-in-chief Anna Wintour intends to collaborate with him once more.
The 45-year-old rapper-turned-designer has a long and strong friendship with Wintour, 72. He was first invited to her annual Met Gala in 2009, and after their wedding in 2014, she put him and his ex-wife Kim Kardashian on the cover.
Wintour recently posed for press shots promoting the Yeezy founder’s new sunglasses collection, despite his aggressively bullying Kardashian online regarding their kids.
On October 4, Wintour enlisted the help of her longtime friend and collaborator Baz Luhrmann to document the reconciliation between West and Gabriella Karefa-Johnson, one of her editors, after West made fun of her sense of style after she chastised him for wearing a White Lives Matter T-shirt to his Paris fashion show.
However, insiders told us on Friday that the fashion queen is now prepared to release the Grammy winner after he made a number of shocking threats against Jews and then aggressively doubled down on them despite being offered the chance to retract them.
We were told by an insider that Anna had had enough and that she had made it very plain within Vogue that Kanye was no longer a member of the inner circle.
It’s unclear exactly what that will mean in practice, such as if Vogue’s website will simply stop carrying photographs from his fashion presentations, but at the absolute least, it appears as though he won’t be allowed to attend the Met Gala and that he won’t be on the magazine’s cover once more.
