Joker: Folie Deux, the follow-up to the 2019 film Joker, has begun shooting. Joaquin Phoenix, who portrays the title character, was featured in a photo that Todd Phillips uploaded on his official Instagram with the following two short sentences: “Day 1. Laughable. Our boy.” Since it was announced, fans have been anticipating this sequel, and now they won’t have to wait too long to enjoy the on-screen folie à deux.

As this movie stars Joaquin Phoenix as Arthur Fleck (also known as The Joker) and Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn, Fleck’s doctor turned criminal companion, the phrase “folie à deux” refers to “a lunacy shared by two.” Joker 2 will take place at Arkham Asylum, while the plot elements are still largely unknown. This would be consistent with Harley Quinn and the Joker’s parallel stories, in which she initially met the Joker while attending to him at Arkham and later fell in love with him. You might call it a crazy, horrible romance.

Another intriguing feature of this movie is that it will be a musical. This is a significant departure from the original movie’s gloomy, gritty, and almost realistic tone, which focused on society’s myriad evils. Gaga is the ideal candidate to star opposite Phoenix in this film because she is a well-known singer and performer in her own right and has won an Academy Award for Best Original Song for the film A Star Is Born. Phoenix had an Academy Award nomination for his performance as Johnny Cash, aka “The Man in Black,” in the 2005 film Walk The Line, so people shouldn’t undervalue his musical and singing abilities either

On August 31, 2019, Phoenix made her first appearance as the crazy clown in the 76th Venice International Film Festival, where she received an eight-minute standing ovation. Later, on October 4, 2019, it was released in the US. It received a lot of positive reviews, made over $1 billion, and was nominated for 11 Academy Awards at the 92nd Annual Academy Awards, where Phoenix took home the Best Actor trophy. We’re interested to see what the most recent investigation into Joker will reveal.
