KARACHI: Former Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed will replace Mohmmad Rizwan in the playing XI for the first Test against New Zealand today. According to a source, this is Rizwan’s first time back in the squad in four years.

In 2019, he played his last Test match, which was against South Africa. He took 10 catches and scored 50 runs.

For the first match against the Kiwis, which starts today in Karachi, Pakistan is likely to make three changes to the team that was chosen.

The injured Naseem Shah will be replaced by fast bowler Mir Hamza. The off-spinner Sajid Khan is also likely to join the team, the sources said.

Changes in the management of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) led to the appointment of Shahid Afridi as the chief selector for the New Zealand series. This led to changes in the Test team. Over the next 120 days, the PCB will be run by a group of 14 people led by Najam Sethi.
