Leah Messer says she was “living a lie”
Leah Messer may not want to share her account of this breakup. Fans want to know what exactly went wrong with the couple more than two months after the MTV reality star broke off her engagement to Jaylan Mobley. Leah provided an explanation for why this aspect of her life isn’t exactly an open book on the Teen Mom: The Next Chapter reunion episode that aired on December 27.
“I didn’t cheat,” Leah told reunion hosts, Dr. Drew Pinsky, and Nessa Diab. “Eventually, he’ll share, but it’s not for me to do.”
Leah was hesitant when asked if Jaylan had cheated or spilled anything, adding he “deserves to speak on.” As she signed a legal document, she later acknowledged, “legally, I cannot share” everything about the breakup.
“I definitely had questions,” she said when recalling the initial split. “I’m so confused. Have we been living a lie for a year and a half?”
The split has a variety of effects on Leah’s children, who she is parenting as twins Aliannah Hope and Aleeah Grace, all 13, with her ex-boyfriend Corey Simms and as Adalynn Faith, 9, with her ex-husband Jeremy Calvert.
“They still want Jay to come around. We still love him,” Leah said. “You can’t change someone, but if you’re not in the place where you know who you are, how am I supposed to have a romantic relationship with you? That doesn’t make sense.”
Leah told viewers that she still supports her ex-fiance despite their public breakup. The reality star is aware that she must progress, nevertheless, at the same time.
“I think Jaylan genuinely loves us at the capacity of how he knows how to love,” she said. “I still believe in love. I keep moving. I keep showing up. I keep being a mom and lean on my support system.”
In 2010, Leah made her television debut on MTV’s 16 and Pregnant. Before agreeing to participate in the Next Chapter of the show, she continued to capture her life on Teen Mom 2.
Fans first encountered Leah in 2010 on MTV’s 16 and Pregnant. Before joining Teen Mom 2’s Next Chapter, she continued to document her reality there.
“I feel like you should take your time to get to know yourself before even getting out there and being exclusively committed to someone,” she told the news in September. “I wish I would have done a lot when I was younger. I wish I would have explored the dating scene and got to know myself a little bit more and pursued more of what brought me purpose, what brought me to drive.”
