Babar Azam was not nominated for ICC’s Test player of year award
Babar Azam has the most runs in Test cricket so far this year, but he wasn’t even nominated for the ICC’s Test player of the year award.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has just unveiled the nominees for the Test Cricketer of the Year award for 2022. The following individuals have been considered for the award: Ben Stokes, Jonny Bairstow (England), Usman Khawaja (Australia), and Kagiso Rabada (South Africa).
Babar did not receive a nomination for the award in the elite format of the game despite having the most number of runs scored (1184 runs) in nine encounters, including four hundreds.
Before, Babar had been considered for the position of ICC ODI cricketer of 2022. In order to be considered for the 50-overs format award, Babar had to score 679 runs at an average of 84.87, including eight fifty runs and three hundreds. He was also named the ODI cricketer of the year in 2021.
Mohammad Rizwan of Pakistan was put forth for consideration as ICC T20I Cricketer of the Year. In addition, he was the recipient of the award in 2021.
