An individual tragically perished as a result of an avalanche that took place on the northern aspect of Ben Nevis.
At around 15:35 GMT on Friday, emergency services were alerted to the avalanche, and the 48-year-old was declared dead there.
Another 40-year-old guy was injured seriously and brought to Belford Hospital in Fort William. Their surviving relatives have been notified.
The avalanche was roughly 600 meters long, according to the Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team, which was called in with a helicopter (1969ft).
Britain’s highest peak, Ben Nevis, is 1,345m (4,413ft) tall.
The mountain rescue team informed the relatives of the climbers that the guys had been located at number two gully in a Facebook post.
The post read: “With the weather creating some challenging conditions the helicopter was limited to the assistance it could offer.
“This meant that we had an extended extrication of the casualties and eight hours after the initial call we delivered the casualty to the Belford Hospital for further assessment and treatment.”
Rob Brown, a different climber, perished in a mishap on the mountain’s north face in August.
