WhatsApp users may now undo accidental ‘delete for me’ feature
WhatsApp, the instant messaging app, is constantly releasing new upgrades and features for its users in order to enhance their experience.
WaBetaInfo revealed on Tuesday that the messaging app is receiving a new update via the Google Play Beta Program, bringing the version up to 2.23.2.2.
Users will be notified about the option to forward media with a caption using this new functionality.
According to the app tracking website, the function would allow users to send any sort of media—photos, videos, GIFs, and documents—to others while keeping the caption.
“The alert shows up when an image, video, GIF, or document with a caption is forwarded,” it said.
Furthermore, WhatsApp wishes to make its users aware of the new feature by allowing them to delete the caption from the media during the forwarding process.
Those who install the app’s latest version today will have access to the feature.
WhatsApp just launched a feature that allows users to undo the “delete for me” message.
Users have commonly encountered situations in which they unintentionally clicked on the “delete for me” option rather than “delete for everyone,” resulting in some awkward situations.
If the user deletes a message by mistake, he will be able to undo “delete for me” for a few seconds.
This feature allows users to easily recover texts that they have accidentally deleted.
Will Cathcart, WhatsApp’s Head of Product, announced the functionality on Twitter. “We’ve added the option to undo ‘Delete for me’ for those times when you mean to delete for everyone but accidentally delete just yourself,” he wrote.
The feature is available to all users. “Every time you delete a message for you, a snack bar shows up with the “undo” button. In case you deleted the message by mistake, you have a few seconds to use the undo action to retrieve your deleted message,” WaBetaInfo said.
In the most recent version, the same feature is also available for the desktop version of the program, as well as for iOS and Android users.
