Four-Nation Cup: Pakistan lost to Mauritius by 2-1 in their second clash
In their second round in the four-nation Cup, Pakistan fell to Mauritius 2-1 after a thrilling game on Sunday at the Prince Saud bin Jalawi Stadium in Al-Khobar.
Maria Khan, the captain of the Pak Shaheens, equalised for her team in the ninth minute after Jheemla Chiara gave Mauritius the early lead in the fourth minute.
Nisha Khan, the goalie for Pakistan, made an outstanding save to stop a penalty in the second half. However, Mauritius soon seized the lead in the 64th minute thanks to a spectacular long-range strike from Goapaul Juliemarie.
However, Pakistan had a chance to tie the game after being awarded a penalty, but captain Maria was unable to take advantage of the situation as she missed the conversion.
Anmol Hira’s late goal earlier in the day on Wednesday gave Pakistan a 1-0 victory in the first match.
The Comoros defender failed to clear the ball just outside the box after Pak Saheens captain Maria Khan placed it directly in the box in anticipation of a goal kick in the 89th minute.
Anmol Hira scored Pakistan’s first goal by placing the ball to the right side of the goalkeeper after Maria lofted the ball back into the area and the opponent defence failed to clear the danger.
On January 19, they play Saudi Arabia in their final game.
It must be noted that the SAFF Women’s Championship was the first time in eight years that the Pakistan women’s team participated in an international match.
