Michelle Monaghan plays a mentally unstable mother who does everything to save her son in a disturbing new scene from Brad Anderson’s upcoming horror film Blood, which was published by Vertical Entertainment. In the movie, Jess, played by Michelle Monaghan, is forced to take her young children Owen (Finlay Wojtak-Hissong) and Tyler (Skylar Morgan Jones) back to her old farmhouse because their family has fallen apart as a result of the parent’s divorce. When their dog bites Owen with a rabies-infected bite, things go even worse because saving Owen would cost Jess’s morals because of his condition and deteriorating behavior.

In the latest trailer, Monaghan is horrifying as she explains what’s happening to a woman (June B. Wilde) who is bound and gagged inside her home. Even though Jess is obviously the threat in this scenario, she treats her victim in a motherly manner. She undoes her gag and softly tells the woman not to speak, insisting that it is only right that she understands what is going on.

Jess explains her son’s illness and how she badly needs the woman’s support to keep him alive until she can find treatment while the woman watches in horror. However, the victim was never given a choice. When the woman looks down, she notices blood dripping from her veins and begins to freak out while Jess expresses gratitude for her assistance. If it means her son is safe, her twisted kind of maternal love reportedly compels her to slowly kill her victims.

Dark horror films are nothing new for Anderson. Some of his most well-known works, such as the intensely unsettling psychological horror Session 9, the Christian Bale-starring cult classic The Machinist, and the critical darling Transsiberian, have achieved success while having incredibly sinister plots. Blood, which earned positive reviews from critics for its strong emotional connection to the terror, appears to confirm that once more. But if the trailer and the title are any indicators, this will be bloodier than any of Anderson’s earlier works.
