After being suspended for two years following the uprising on January 6, the parent company of Facebook, Meta, is restoring the personal account of former President Donald Trump.
In a blog post published on Wednesday, the business stated that it will be adding “new guardrails” to prevent “repeat offenders” from breaking its rules.
Meta, which has its headquarters in Menlo Park, California, stated, “In the event that Mr. Trump posts further violating content, the content will be removed and he will be suspended for between one month and two years, depending on the severity of the violation.”
In a post on his own social media platform, Trump criticized Facebook for suspending his account while praising his own website, Truth Social.
“Facebook, which has lost billions of dollars since “deplatforming” your favorite President, me, has recently announced that they will reinstate my account. A sitting President, or anyone else who is not deserving of retribution, should never experience something like this again! he penned.
On January 7, a day after the deadly 2021 uprising, he was suspended. He was also removed from other social media platforms; however, he was recently reinstated on Twitter following Elon Musk’s acquisition of the company. He has not used Twitter.
Trump relies on Truth Social, which he launched after being blocked from Twitter, despite being banned from mainstream social media.
