Ayo Edebiri, who dazzled viewers in FX’s The Bear as Sydney Adamu, the sous chef, opposite Jeremy Allen White, is leaving the Chicago sandwich restaurant for the Marvel Cinematic Universe as she joins the cast of Thunderbolts, according to Deadline. She is the most recent high-profile actor to join a cast that already included Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, David Harbour, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Wyatt Russell, Hannah John-Kamen, and Olga Kurylenko when they were first unveiled at D23 last year. Edebiri’s part is currently being kept a secret, unlike that of her co-stars.

The brilliant Edibiri emerged on the scene as one of the stars of FX’s popular new dramedy, garnering accolades for the show and earning herself a Critics Choice nomination. She’ll have another opportunity to shine when she rejoins Carmy’s culinary crew in Season 2, which will air on FX on Hulu this summer.

Edebiri has worked as a story editor on Sunnyside, a writer for episodes of What We Do in the Shadows and Craig of the Creek, as well as a member of the team for Apple TV+’s Dickinson. But she hasn’t been as prominent on the big screen. Although she just co-starred with Ben Platt in Theater Camp, which recently had its Sundance premiere and was one of the festival’s more anticipated films, this will be her first leading part in a significant production.

Director Jake Schreier of Robot & Frank is directing Thunderbolts, and Black Widow’s Eric Pearson wrote the script. Details of the enormous team-up are being withheld for the time being, despite the fact that comics provide some indication of what might be anticipated. The movie is also being produced by Kevin Feige, president of Marvel.

What Else Do We Know About Thunderbolts from Marvel?

With its cast and MCU presence, Thunderbolts is about as big of a project as Edebiri could take on. It’s being billed as Phase 5’s finale, bringing together villains and anti-heroes from the whole Marvel canon in a massive cinematic event. Even though the movie won’t be released until the summer of 2024 and filming won’t begin until June, this hasn’t prevented the actors from enthusing about it. According to Louis-Dreyfus, who previously bragged about the film, “It’s going to be incredibly insane,” she is most excited to begin shooting.

There is still a lot in store for Marvel fans before Edebiri makes her MCU debut. The insane Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is the following release that is scheduled for February 17. The MCU’s Kang the Conqueror Jonathan Majors recently had the chance to sit down with Collider’s own Steve Weintraub at Sundance to talk about what it means to play the major evil in the expansive film franchise before the movie’s release.
