Kevin Bacon is, once again, waiting to take part in a new Tremors sequel
Once more, Kevin Bacon is eager to join a new Tremors sequel. His devotion to the 1990 movie has been well-documented. Not only has he seen it only once since its release, but he also revealed in a 2021 Esquire profile that he still hopes to appear in a sequel.
And on Friday, when a fan enquired about developing a sequel to the cult film, he reiterated his admiration for Tremors once more.
The latest Shazam! Fury of the Gods trailer, according to a Twitter user, “makes me REALLY want to see a new Tremors movie that isn’t straight to DVD,” so Bacon weighed in for fans.
“I’m simply waiting for the call,” he added, adding a worm emoji as it were.
The comment was made close to 33 years after the Ron Underwood-directed film first won over audiences with a stellar cast that included, among others, Kevin Bacon, the late Fred Ward, and Reba McEntire. It happened in the community of Perfection, Nevada, when locals battled creatures that resembled worms beneath the ground.
Tremors 2: Aftershocks, Tremors 3: Back to Perfection, Tremors 4: The Legend Begins, Tremors 5: Bloodlines, Tremors: A Cold Day in Hell, and 2020’s Tremors: Shrieker Island are just a few of the direct-to-video sequels that the film spawned.
Nevertheless, he has spoken up regarding the franchise’s future and revealed to Esquire in 2021 that Universal had contacted him about producing more of the movies in the past, but they would have been direct-to-video. He planned to restart his ties with the franchise around 2015, however, he passed away at the time.

“We had just passed the 25th anniversary. When I visited Blumhouse, they were completely sold on the concept “Informed Esquire, Bacon “Universal didn’t want to remake it as a film, possibly because the first version didn’t succeed as a feature. So we ignored it. Then they returned and inquired with me, “What do you think about making it as a series?”
The program eventually found a home at SyFy, but it was canceled before it could air. Despite the franchise’s difficulties, Bacon is still committed to discovering ways to defeat some enormous worms.
In 2021, Bacon said, “I would still want to do it, believe me. “Perhaps the 35th or 30th anniversary is required. We’ll carry on.”
