Harry Kane surpassed Greaves after scoring his 267th goal
Harry Kane surpassed Jimmy Greaves to become the club’s all-time greatest scorer after scoring his 267th goal for Tottenham Hotspur and 200th in the Premier League during the match against Manchester City on Sunday.
The 29-year-old scored against City with a low finish in his 304th Premier League game for Spurs to reach the milestone.
Greaves, who started his career at Chelsea, scored 266 goals in 379 games with the Spurs between 1961 and 1970.
The England captain is the third-highest scorer since the Premier League’s start in 1992, after Wayne Rooney and Alan Shearer, who both have 208 goals.
Shearer and Rooney each took 306 games and 462 games, respectively, to accomplish their double-century of goals in the competition, whereas Kane did so in just 304 games.
Kane has scored 19 goals so far this season, 17 of which have come in the Premier League.
In addition, Kane needs just one more goal to overtake Rooney as England’s all-time leading scorer. He and the former Manchester United forward are currently deadlocked on 53.
