At the 2023 Grammy Awards, Madonna introduced Sam Smith and Kim Petras’ performance of their Grammy-winning song “Unholy” in an unexpectedly subdued outfit. However, she dressed up for the afterparty.

The “Like a Prayer” singer shared a number of her favorite moments from the greatest night in music on Instagram on Tuesday, many of which featured her seductive post-performance outfit.

The 64-year-old Queen of Pop wore a black corset with a lace bustier and satin garter straps with rushed edges that hung over her fishnet stockings. She completed her ensemble with a black harness and black knee-high boots. Madonna substituted diamond chokers and necklaces that dangled at varying lengths, some of which had crosses and other ornaments, for the white shirt and black tie.

Madonna stood with Cardi B, Smith, and shared an NSFW kiss with multi-platinum songwriter and R&B musician Jozzy in the video montage of her favourite moments from the evening. The obscene video also featured cameos by DJ Honey Dijon and Ab-Soul.

She revealed in the post that she introduced Smith and Petras, both 30 years old, before their “Unholy” performance on Sunday night, becoming Petras the first trans woman to play at the concert.

Before joining Sam Smith and Kim Petras in their historic moment, Madonna said, “It was an honour for me to introduce Kim Petras and Sam Smith at the Grammys.”

“I had intended to present the last award, Album of the Year, but I decided it was more crucial to present the first transgender person to perform at the Grammys. Additionally, she received a Grammy! “Madonna penned this in reference to Petras and Smith winning the best pop group/duo performance category.

She went on to say that people chose to focus on her appearance rather than her message.

“Instead of focusing on what I said in my speech which was about giving thanks for the fearlessness of artists like Sam and Kim- Many people chose to only talk about Close-up photos of me Taken with a long lens camera By a press photographer that Would distort anyone’s face!!” she continued.

“Once again I am caught in the glare of ageism and misogyny That permeates the world we live in. A world that refuses to celebrate women pass [sic] the age of 45 And feels the need to punish her If she continues to be strong willed, hard-working and adventurous,” she continued.

Madonna said, standing by her choice, “I’ve never expressed regret for any of my artistic decisions, nor have I ever done so for how I dress or present myself. I’ve been treated poorly by the media since the beginning of my career, but I realise that this is all a test, so I’m willing to pave the way for all the women who come after me to have it easier in the years to come.”

As she continued, she quoted Beyoncé, saying, “In the words of Beyonce, “You-won’t crush my soul.”

Madonna concluded by emphasising that she has no intention of stopping “I look forward to many more years of rebellious behaviour — pushing boundaries — Standing up to the patriarchy — and Most of all — Enjoying My Life,” she stated. Bow down, you sexy girls!”
