Man dies on M4 Closure motorway after being hit by a car

A man in his 40s passed away after being struck by a car on a congested section of M4 Closure highway, according to Wiltshire Police.

Since well before 1:00 AM GMT on Monday, the M4 westbound was closed between J17 (Chippenham) and J18 (Bath).

According to National Highways, detours were in place on the A350, A420, and A46.

On the M4, traffic saw delays of more than an hour and queues that extended for more than four kilometres. Just before 15:00 GMT, all lanes reopened, and traffic resumed as usual.
