Qualcomm plans to ship an Apple Silicon competitor chip in 2024

• Qualcomm will release its Apple Silicon-competing chip in 2023.

• Qualcomm was said to be working on a new chipset to compete with Apple’s M-series processors last month.

Qualcomm will release its Apple Silicon-competing chip next year. According to AppleInsider, citing sources, Qualcomm CEO and President Cristiano Amon stated at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2023 that Apple will develop its own 5G modems for the iPhone 16.

“Our SoC and custom CPUs, you should think of it as an Apple compete for the Microsoft ecosystem,” Amon stated.

When asked when the new chip would be available, Amon stated, “We probably will see some devices that may get announced in 2023.”

“Most likely, a number of announcements will be made at CES in 2024,” he continued.

In November 2021, the chipmaker discussed developing a processor to compete with Apple’s M1 series.

However, according to the report, the iPhone maker has already introduced the M2 series, and various rumours suggest that an M3 in a Mac will be available by the end of this year.

Qualcomm was said to be working on a new chipset to compete with Apple’s M-series processors last month.
