The Punjab Chief Minister has directed to prepare an emergency plan at the district level.

According to details, an important meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Disaster Management was held at the Civil Secretariat under the chairmanship of Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Bazdar.

In the meeting, Chief Minister Usman Bazdar directed the concerned departments and agencies to remain vigilant at all times and monitor the flow of water in the rivers 24 hours in view of the monsoon season.

The Chief Minister said that the control room set up in PDMA should keep an eye on the situation and ensure the best coordination between the concerned federal and provincial departments.

The meeting reviewed the preparations and arrangements of departments and radars in view of possible floods in view of the monsoon season, and also made necessary arrangements in the cities in view of the threat of urban flooding.

During the meeting, Chief Minister Usman Bazdar expressed frustration over the delay in the work of cleaning the drains and made it clear that the cleaning of drains should have been completed by June but the cleaning process could not be completed till now. He directed to complete the cleaning work and submit a report and said that action would be taken against those responsible for the delay.

He said that a comprehensive plan should be formulated for effective drainage in cities.

The Chief Minister said that the Meteorological Department should submit its report on daily basis regarding the weather situation, daily report of rains in catchment areas of rivers should be prepared and in case of any emergency, the concerned departments and radars should also submit their contingency plan.

Provincial Ministers Mohammad Mohsin Leghari, Mian Khalid Mehmood, Malik Noman Ahmed Langarial, Mohammad Taimor Khan, Mohammad Hashim Dogar, Chief Secretary, Inspector General of Police, Additional Chief Secretary Home, Secretaries of relevant departments and senior officials attended the meeting. Abdul Aleem Khan, Senior Member Board of Revenue and Divisional Commissioners attended the meeting through video link.
