Heavy and light rain fell in different parts of Karachi, the capital of Sindh province today (Monday), with which the power outages in the city while 3 more people were killed in electrocution incidents.

Today (July 27) intermittent rain with winds reported in different parts of the city including Nazimabad, North Nazimabad, Ayesha Manzil, Haideri, Malir, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Gulistan-e-Jauhar.

The weather has turned pleasant due to the rains, on the other hand, the citizens are facing difficulties due to the accumulation of water on the roads and power outages.

Prior to the onset of rains, the Meteorological Department had forecast partly cloudy weather in the city and thundershowers in some areas.

In addition, according to the notification issued by the Meteorological Department, the third spell of monsoon with light rain and drizzle will continue for the next two days in Karachi.

It may be recalled that the highest rainfall of 86.2 mm was recorded in Gulshan-e-Hadid yesterday, besides 80.88 mm in Gulistan-e-Jauhar, 61.9 mm in North Karachi, 50.88 mm in Kemari and 58 mm in Jinnah Terminal.

Besides, 51 mm rain was recorded in Saddar, 49.6 mm in Pahlawan Goth, 49.2 mm in PAF base Faisal, 28 mm in Nazimabad while 23 mm rain was recorded in PAF base and Landhi.

Besides, the Meteorological Department had on Monday forecast rain in different districts of Sindh including Karachi.

The Meteorological Department said the current monsoon system is likely to bring moderate rains and strong winds.

On the other hand, after today’s rain, 3 more people were killed due to electrocution incident, after which the number of deaths in accidents during rain in 2 days rose to 8.

Water had stagnated due to rain inside Al-Badr warehouse on Sparco Road which 4 labourers were trying to dry it by the motor when they were electrocuted, killing 2 persons on the spot while 2 others were injured.

The dead were identified as 26-year-old Naheed Jan and 45-year-old Muhammad Musa, both from Shaheed Benazirabad and Kala Dhaka in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

In another incident, a 45-year-old man was electrocuted in Orangi Town.

According to SHO Pakistan Bazar Iqbal Hussain Tunio, a man named Muhammad Issa was trying to drive a car at Ghousia Chowk in Orangi Town Sector 11:30 when he was electrocuted and died.

It may be recalled that different areas of the city were inundated after the rains in Karachi yesterday while 5 people including 2 children were killed in different accidents including electrocution.

After the rains in Karachi, the situation in Orangi Town looked very bad and in the pictures and videos that surfaced on social media, not only rainwater but also water from drains was seen entering the houses.
