According to a new study, posting food photos on Instagram and other social media platforms is harmful to one’s waistline.
According to a new study, customers who picture their meals take longer to feel full and are more likely to request a second serving.
Researchers from Georgia Southern University in the United States divided 145 students into two groups and gave them both plates of cheese crackers to eat, but half of them were told to snap a photo of their snack beforehand.
Following their meal, volunteers were asked to assess how much they enjoyed it and if they desired more, with the findings revealing that those who took photographs scored higher in both types.
According to the experts, “Memories of food and the act of recording consumption can affect how much we eat.”
They added, “Our results indicate picture-taking leads to the greater wanting of the food following consumption.
“Those seeking to eat smaller portions, especially of tempting foods that they want to cut back on, should avoid taking pictures of what they are eating.”
